Site Development

The development of a construction site during civil construction projects can include the hydraulic and mechanical dredging of adjacent waterways; dewatering of onsite ponds and impoundments; and installing wick drains to control groundwater intrusions. Final site development activities typically include final site grading, development of permanent roadways and laydown yards, and the installation of underground utilities.

RECON was contracted to prepare a site for the construction of a Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal on a dredge spoil pile with low bearing capacity soils.

Project Features
  • Stabilizing over 2,000,000 cubic yards of zero strength soils
  • Constructing 400,000 cubic yards of dikes with a maximum final grade height of 30 feet
  • Accelerating consolidation of the dikes from the proposed 7 years to 7 months by installing 9,000,000 linear feet of wick drains
  • Constructing a temporary dock.
